Ryder Cup

Role: WEBSITE DESIGN • APP DESIGN • DESIGN DIRECTION

Ryder Cup was always my favorite golf event. As fans are fond of saying, there’s no tournament like it in the world. With so much history and rivalry behind it, it’s an inexplicably fanatical contest.

Many of the innovations I helped bring to the Ryder Cup trace back to 2010, where I worked at redesigning the complicated scoring to be much easier to digest at a glance. This was done through innovations like a centered leaderboard (which had never been done), inclusion of the projected score (also a first), indicators showing dormie and match holes (also a first), and running, tweet-like commentary on each match (for those who didn’t have access to live video). The centered leaderboard and projected score have both since become standard team match play scoring tropes on sites like PGATour.com and Golf.com.
